If you have a shared or personal drive with a large volume of files created frequently, organizing them can become challenging—especially when you need to find something specific!
This rantir workflow automates file organization on a local filesystem by categorizing and sorting files into subdirectories based on their type and name.
Disclaimer
Due to its intended functionality, this workflow requires a self-hosted version of rantir and will not work on rantir Cloud.
How it Works
- Activates with a local file trigger each time a new file appears in the designated directory.
- Analyzes the new file’s name and type using AI to determine the appropriate subdirectory for placement.
- The AI checks existing subdirectories to prevent duplicates. If a relevant subdirectory doesn’t exist, it suggests creating a new one.
- An Execute Command node follows the AI’s suggestion, moving the file to its categorized subdirectory.
Requirements
- Self-hosted version of rantir. The nodes in this workflow are designed for the self-hosted environment only.
- For Docker users, configure a bind mount to a host directory.
- Mistral.ai account for LLM model access.
Customization Options
If files are created frequently, consider switching from a file-triggered activation to a timer-based trigger to manage concurrency and avoid frequent activations.
