The News Site from NewsX, a fake telecom company, does not offer an RSS feed, making web scraping essential for extracting and processing news updates.
This workflow captures only the latest posts, providing a summary and extracting relevant technical keywords from each. The news site lists links to each post, but not the full content, so the workflow first gathers links and post dates before fetching only the newest entries.
The processed data is sent to a SQL database, such as a NocoDB database, with updates scheduled weekly via a cron job.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of CSS selectors and how to retrieve them via a browser (typically: right-click → inspect)
- ChatGPT API account (a regular account is not sufficient)
- A NocoDB database, though other output targets can also be used
Assumptions:
- CSS selectors correctly target elements on the news site
- Each post has a date with a dedicated CSS selector, separate from the news content
Important Notes:
- Not all sites permit scraping, especially if done at high frequency
- Websites are structured differently, so the workflow may require adjustments for other sites
